Change Management as a Core Competency for Sustainable Business Performance

The August edition of “Talking Business” in Qantas Airlines’ in-flight radio station QRadio has an interview with the author of “The First XI: Winning Organisations in Australia,” by Graeme Cocks of the Melbourne Business School at the University of Melbourne.

The interview makes the point that change management – ability to execute effectively – is one of the central factors differentiating organisations with sustainable business excellence from competitors in the same industry. Graeme writes:

“. . . when we started the study, we thought that perhaps leadership or strategy might have been the pivotal element but when we stepped back and looked at the facts, we were compelled to put this concept of ‘Effective Execution’ right in the middle.”

The transcript of the interview is available from Qantas.
